–A study from the ‘Family and Work Institute’ in 2001 found that nearly 60% of American workers feel overworked and overwhelmed by their work.
-A study in 2013 conducted by Gallup, found that nearly 70% of American workers feel disengaged from their work. Disengagement means you don’t really care about making a meaningful contribution to your company and feel disconnected from your work. It means that you do just enough not to get fired.

The way that we’re working isn’t working. Literally the majority of Americans constantly feel overwhelmed and unhappy at their jobs.
What’s worst is that chronic overwhelm, disengagement and unhappiness literally suffocates our ability to sustainably do great work. And when we can’t do great work, EVERYONE loses out.
What do I mean by great work? Work that makes a meaningful contribution to your company and its customers/clients. When you do great work, it feels deeply satisfying. In addition, great work increases overall company profit, as its customers/clients are better served.
The worst part of all of this is that the unhappiness we experience in our jobs is not confined to our work environments. We bring all these negative, draining feelings home to our families.
